Airport style should never be an afterthought.  You never know who you’re going to pass by, sit next to, or meet at baggage claim.  I’ve always secretly thought I would meet my partner while sitting in first class, but that’s a story for another blog.  While your personal style is personal, a staple travel tote is a versatile investment.

Louis Vuitton Luxury

Not too big, not too small, the Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM (which means medium size) is priced on the lower-end of luxury at $1,050.00.  While the Neverfull sells itself on simplicity, the adjustable side laces allow fashionistas to make the tote into a smaller city bag.  Although uncomfortable at times, do not let the thin straps fool you – Louis Vuitton staff claims that the Neverfull can withstand up to 200 pounds of carried weight.  If you’re not crazy on branding, opt for the Damier Ebony Canvas for a less-flashy variation of the classic LV monogram.

Subtly Chic Coach

Coach has made a recent resurgence to the near-luxury market as Stuart Vevers transitions into his new position as head designer.  There are many classic, carefully constructed bags to choose from, but the Bleecker Legacy Weekend tote has my vote.  Priced at $658, the all-leather large-size tote has been made available in a variety of fun colors, like Chili Red and Sky Blue.  This tote is fairly heavy, but, the weight serves as an indication of the quality of leather grain.  Select a neutral color.  This bag is intended to be unisex, meaning your travel partner can share carry-on responsibility!

Le, Le, Longchamp

The Le Pliage Tote has been a staple on college campuses for years, however, it is also an extremely viable airport option.  Carefully constructed premium, foldable, nylon mixed with luxurious leather straps and closure allow the Le Pilage to be both lightweight and versatile.  Priced at just $145.00, the large Le Pliage Tote is accessible for any budget.

Herschel Practicality

Herschel catapulted to accessory fame in just 5 years of production.  Price-point and aesthetic friendly, Herschel has found a niche market with modern travel goods.  Prints ranging from classic black to sailor inspired anchors, there is something in the Herschel collection for everyone.  The Market Tote, priced at a modest $60, made of durable polyester, is versatile for either gender and price-yet-fashion-friendly for the beach, city, or airport.
