When you think of travel dating, you usually think of long walks on the beach, or dining at five star restaurants with panoramic views. So you join MissTravel with dreams of jet setting to Paris, Milan, New York or Miami.. not expecting to get trip offers to the likes of Jacksonville, Florida or Greensboro, North Carolina. Let’s face it, not every destinations is sexy. There’s nothing sexy about going to Atlantic City when you’d rather be in Vegas, and Jacksonville has NOTHING on Miami. But unfortunately, we can’t avoid a city just because it isn’t sexy. Your boss may send you to Minneapolis on business, doesn’t mean you should have to go alone! But you may find it tough to find a travel companion willing to come along for the ride. Here are the least sexy cities in America according to our members:
With a 100% rejection rate, NO ONE wants to meet up in this Carolina city. There’s nothing particularly unpleasant about Greensboro, it’s just not sexy in the eyes of our aspring travelers.
There are so many appealing destinations in close proximity to Richmond- D.C., Chesapeake Bay to name a few- that it’s easy to see why the capital of Virginia might be overlooked. Richmond fails to attract travelers 98% of the time on MissTravel.
Texas is generally a popular state to visit on MissTravel with lots of trips being planned to Austin, Houston, Dallas and San Antonio. But Fort Worth just is not as interesting to travel daters.
While Los Angeles and most of the areas surrounding Beverly Hills can be found on our most popular destinations lists, Beverly Hills gets no love from MissTravel members. Unless you want to spend your travel date strictly shopping and hanging out with rich people, Beverly Hills is simply not as appealing as a trip offer to a beach city or LA in general.
When you take in to account the rich cultures of Memphis and Nashville, as well as the Smoky Mountain backdrop that can be found in Gatlinburg, Chattanooga is probably not even the fifth sexiest city in Tennessee. So it’s no wonder no one wants to go there on a destination date.
Las Vegas has consistently taken the top spot for America’s favorite travel dating destination, but Atlantic City is like its ugly stepsister. It’s not even close to comparable in quality, size or amenities and even its proximity to the coast doesn’t help with it’s aesthetics.
ATL should be a flyover city. Most people would prefer to connect and then quickly depart onto a better destination. What is it about Atlanta that makes it so unappealing?
Out of all the cities in Florida, Jacksonville has got to be one of the least desirable locations for any trip, much less one that should inspire romance. Miami is super sexy with close proximity to amazing beaches and the Keys, while Orlando and Tampa have tons of night life and general activities to appease any traveler. Jacksonville is very boring in comparison.
The second Texas city to make this list, Corpus Christi’s problem might lie in proximity than an anything else. Situated on the gulf coast with year long mild temperatures should make this coastal city appealing to most travelers, but it lacks accessibility and night life that other cities such as St. Padre Island or Galveston have.
Minneapolis is the perfect destination date for those who love fishing or don’t mind spending a weekend at the Mall of America. But apparently most of our travelers have a different idea of romance, so alas, Minneapolis makes the list of least sexiest places for a travel date.
Do you agree with our list? Why or why not?
