I can only hope that as you are reading this, you find yourself still jet lagged after just returning from a fabulous weekend adventure, courtesy of MissTravel. But for those of you who have not yet found success here, I encourage you to stick around. Keep in mind that  logging in once and expecting to board a flight the next day is not a realistic expectation. The people on this site are not desperate people who are looking for someone, ANYONE to tag along on their trips. If you were on any other dating website would you expect to find the love of your life in one day, or even one week? Travel dating may seem more casual to some people than other types of dating, but that doesn’t mean you want to end up half way around the world with someone you can’t stand. So let me walk you through a few tips on how to be successful on MissTravel.

“Why did you join MissTravel?”

Obviously, you are here because you want to travel. Either you are a seasoned travel who is looking for someone who loves it as much as you, or you’re a wanna-be traveler who can’t quite afford to get your feet off the ground. No matter what category you fit into, there is a place for you here. But this is a travel-dating site, so you must be seeking something other than just a free ride.

MissTravel Profile Tip #1: Tell the truth.

Are you looking for a something casual, or a soul-mate to wander the globe with? Whatever it is that you are seeking, don’t lie about your intentions. Everyone on MissTravel has different motivations for joining, and it’s not difficult to find like-minded members to travel with. But it’s impossible if you are going to lie about why you are really here.

MissTravel Profile Tip # 2: Be Specific.

In order to find a successful match on MissTravel, you have to spell out exactly what is you want. Don’t be vague, or check off every option available to you just to get the most hits. It’s highly unlikely that you are looking for both a ‘serious relationship’ and a ‘no strings attached’ relationship simultaneously. Just pick the ONE (or few) that most describe what you are looking for at this point in time. It’s a waste of everyone’s time if you aren’t genuinely seeking what you claim to be interested in.

MissTravel Tip # 3: Photos.

You are not going to get any profile action if you do not have a profile picture, end of story. With the high quality cameras on cell phones today, there is no excuse for not posting a clear picture of yourself. Your picture is your first impression, so be mindful of the impression you want to leave on potential suitors. Think of how you want to be perceived, and take your photo accordingly. By not uploading a clear photo of yourself, one can only assume you are not here for genuine reasons or you are trying to deceive those who view your profile. If you are unsure of how to upload your photos to your profile, feel free to email them to [email protected] and we can do it for you. If you are nervous about your face being on a public profile, we have privacy settings you can adjust to protect your privacy and security.

MissTravel Tip # 4 : Be Patient

We do not promise instant gratification here at MissTravel. Just because we are rapidly approaching 100,000 members, doesn’t mean they are all sitting behind their computers hovering over the refresh button, waiting for someone to offer them a trip. Just because a person registers as an ‘attractive’ member seeking a ‘generous’ member doesn’t mean they are lazy or unemployed. Everybody is working and living lives of their own. It takes a little effort, and time to make a good connection. You aren’t going to be able to just log on and plan a trip in a matter of minutes. Take your time to really get to know the people you are truly interested in and open up yourself to the possibilities that will follow.

MissTravel Tip #5 : Be Realistic

The fastest way to get rejected, is by being demanding. Don’t randomly message potential suitors begging for miles or propose outrageous trips to people you know nothing about, it won’t work. You need to establish a connection first. Also, keep in mind that just because a trip suggestion is offered, doesn’t mean its a done deal. The generous member is going to want to get to know you before committing to paying for your trip together, and an attractive member shouldn’t accept every offer by face value. Don’t expect to rush things along just because you want a free ride or a willing companion. Take the time to figure out if you are really a good match, there is no reason to settle for just anyone who comes along. The beauty of this site is that everyone is a willing participant.

MissTravel Tip # 6: Be Safe

When online dating and traveling, please use your common sense. We do our best to weed out the criminals, the insincere and those who wish to cause you harm. But that doesn’t mean you should give out your personal information over the Internet or travel to a random place to meet a stranger. Though we don’t offer background checks yet (but will soon!), that doesn’t mean you can’t do your own research. Get to know the person you are traveling with, and always make sure you know where you are going. Confirm all reservations and travel plans ahead of time. Know where the embassies or foreign consulates of your home country are located when traveling abroad and always let someone back home know your itinerary.

With that said, I know the number one question on everyone’s mind is ‘Has anyone actually been on a travel date?’. Lots of members have gone on travel dates (and lived to tell the tale!). Here are a few examples of MissTravel members who recently returned from great MissTravel adventures and are looking forward to their next ones.

I just got back from Florida for the weekend. My time there was amazing. Everything went smoothly and went better than expected. My guy lived in an amazing condo just 10 miles from the beach. He was very generous and I enjoyed spending time with him. We have a trip to Paris already booked for August! Thank You MissTravel!

I met a guy on here… he is very spontaneous and invited me to Montreal for a few days… my first time in Montreal and he wanted me to see the beautiful city. He arranged first class flight and a 5 star hotel room for me in the middle of the city. during the day he had to work so I enjoyed the city and did some shopping alone (i loved that too). Then at the evening we met for dinner, show and movies. He is an amazing man and I had such a nice time….And I will meet him again for a new trip 🙂

Met a cool gal from Texas who never really has been «pampered». We met up at my place in the great northwest (Portland, OR) and had a rockin 6 days of fun around/on the town, wine and beer tasting, fine dining and dive bars, music, hikin and bikin with views of Mt Hood and St Helens too. Jeep trips to the coast. Relaxation and indoor fun was content! Will we do it again? Maybe so in the south! If not, the memories we shared are of a great time! MissTravel rocks! Chynalemay, Portland, OR.

Water, Sky & Sand! Back from a fantastic trip where we both had great fun and got our feet wet, kicked up our heels a bit and did not want to leave!

It is possible to find success with MissTravel if you follow the rules, and don’t expect too much right away. This is a dating site like no other and it may not work out with everyone you encounter, but when the right person comes along it’s going to be worth it. Know that it’s going to take more than a wink to make someone fall in love with you, and more than a smile to get your feet off the ground.

Happy Travels!

I have to say so far everyone has been SO polite. I am not being bombarded at all like I was on some of the ‘other’ sites for meeting people. Expectations have been more than reasonable, even though I have not met anyone or gone on any trips yet. So far I can say this has been a very enjoyable experience.
