A man in the military has an undeniable allure. Besides the sexy uniforms and physical stamina, men on active duty can be the perfect counterpart to the traveling woman. Living abroad is a dream for many women, and dating a man in service who happens to be stationed in a foreign country is one way to achieve that dream.

Post-Memorial Day joy goes deeper than the average zeal of the three day weekend. The men that we celebrate deserve a little adoration as well. These are some major perks of dating a military stud.

Budget, Shmudget

While these honorable men deployed, their paydays increase while daily spending is almost nothing. That leaves them with expendable income on the days they aren’t working. In addition to that, military discounts are present almost everywhere. Always ask about a military discount, since some places will make one up just because you mentioned it. With all the money they save, splurging on a deserving lady is no big deal.

Wanderlust or Bust

Packing up and heading out is all too common for men in the service, and for a lady with wanderlust this is the perfect arrangement. Willingness to travel to his next station is a major turn on, all while satisfying an urge to see the world. Most guys will be thrilled you want to venture to the remote Easter Island off the coast of Chile. So happy, in fact, that he might just afford your entire trip with pleasure.

Cultural Exposure

Touring the globe grants travellers a new view on life, and teaches the way of foreign culture. Problems that come with living in a modernized society like cell reception and bad hair days seem trivial after being exposed to how most of the world lives. Once he’s seen true poverty, your chipped nail polish and past due dye job won’t seem like such a faux pas.

Neat and Tidy

Order is a main principle in the military, and he will likely bring that home. A major point of struggle I find in relationships is a contrast in definitions of the word “clean.” In training, daily inspections are made with repercussions for those who do not meet cleanliness standards, making keeping tidy second nature. In a past relationship with a guy in the Air Force, I was considered the messy one after leaving my clothes on the floor of the bathroom. I would much rather be seen as untidy, rather than have to clean up after a grown man.

Peak Physique

One of my favorite aspects of the military is an acronym called PT. That stands for physical training, a staple of the modern soldier. Your man is carrying 500lbs around the track and climbing rope courses all day. That means he’s got stamina, and he’s prepared for lifting you into all sorts of untapped positions. There is nothing more attractive on a guy than washboard abs and toned arms, both of which come standard with this breed.

R-E-S-P-E-C-T

Appreciation of women is a time-honored tradition where some men fall short. Modern chivalry has been replaced with a warped interpretation of gender equality. Military men refuse to accept stereotypes and prefer to stick gentlemanly behavior. If being courted like a princess is your style, then an army stud or naval hunk might be just what the doctor ordered. Any mistreatment of a lady is a big G.I. NO, so you can count on him being a semi-perfect gentleman. Perfect would be no fun.

Next time you encounter a military guy, remember these perks and reconsider a relationship. He’s adored and respected by all, and he’ll do the same for you.

Would you date a guy in the military?
