Winter is in full swing and that means many of us are day dreaming of warm sunshine and tropical palm trees. Perhaps you live somewhere with a mild winter climate and you’ve been dying to breathe in fresh, crisp air with powdery snow all around you. To help reduce the stress of choosing the best locale we’ve rounded up the latest destinations that are all the rage in 2016.

Ecuador

This South American country has a world of fun to offer! The Galapagos Islands are the main attraction with amazing wildlife spotting opportunities. Creatures living on the Islands are some of the most unique species on the planet!

The country’s capital, Quito, has emerged as a leading travel destination, being dubbed the second best city. The city is built on an ancient Inca foundation and is known for it’s architecture dating back over 500 years. This place is also the only place in the world where you can stand with one foot in the Northern Hemisphere and the other in the Southern Hemisphere, at the same time! That’ll be the best Instagram geotag you may ever have.

Japan

Japan is the ultimate combination of modern luxury and ancient tradition. You can take a speeding bullet train past glimmering skyscrapers and five minutes later you’re rolling through the countryside. Visit local markets, partake in a traditional tea ceremony, stop at a Buddhist temple and light an incense, or relax in volcanic hot springs.

The best time to visit the Land of the Rising Sun is preferably during the spring when the cherry blossom trees are in bloom. Everywhere you look you’ll see the beautiful pink flowers! Tokyo is a great destination to experience the neon lights and modern side of the country. If you’re looking for a more traditional experience head to Kyoto. No matter which Japanese city you indulge in, your followers will be thanking you for sharing the experience.

Zimbabwe

If you’ve had a safari on your bucket list, make this the year to experience it! Witnessing such majestic animals in their natural habitat is a once in a lifetime opportunity. You know there’s nothing that dominates the Internet like adorable animal photos!

There are rave reviews about the safari tours in Zimbabwe, many stating how well the companies protect the animals and the environments. Safety of the guests is also a top priority which can only be expected when in the presence of wild animals.

Wake up to find a smiling giraffe peeking through your window, enjoy an open air shower right next to a hippo, be captivated by a sunbathing cheetah. Also be sure to make your way to Victoria Falls, the largest waterfall in the world and one of the most breathtaking scenes.

Greenland

Sail among ice fjords and glaciers, enjoy a dogsled trip, encounter humpback whales and sea lions, watch the Northern Lights sparkle across the sky. Greenland may be 80 percent ice, but there’s a ton of hot happenings to plan for! Throw a filter, or two, on those glimmering lights and watch the likes roll in.

This March, Greenland will host the first-ever Arctic Winter Games. If you’ve been wanting to visit the Arctic, this would be the time! There will be plenty of food, drink and cultural events to immerse yourself in as well as spectator events, such as snowshoeing.
