London is always a fun city to visit. It has so many great attractions to explore, from classic architectural marvels, museums with a lot of gorgeous art collections, and shows being performed at theaters across the city. It is also the home of the famous Oxford Street, where you will find hundreds of top-notch shops and designer outlets.

There are also plenty of ways to explore the city. Whether you’re in London on a short trip or you want to enjoy the best of the city on an extended vacation, these are the best ways to explore London.

A Bus Tour

London has a lot of bus tours to choose from. The ‘London in 48-Hours’ tour is a good one in particular. It allows you to take a tour bus and visit great places such as the Tower of London and St Paul’s Cathedral. The bus also operates throughout the day, so you can hop off at any destination you like and simply wait for the next bus to move on to your next attraction of choice.

Some bus tours even include guided tours across London. This type of guided tour is more pre-programmed, so you can’t really stop at any place you like and spend a lot of time there. You’re travelling with other people and will be ushered across London to enjoy the best of the city.

Regardless of the bus tour you choose, you can have a 24-hour ticket (or a day pass) or an open-ended pass for the tour. The latter gives you the ability to go on as many tours as you like for a full week, giving you more time to explore the city.

Drive around London

Greater London is a particularly nice city to drive in; especially if you love beautiful back roads and the extra freedom you get from driving your own car. There are car rental services across the city and a small hatchback is very affordable.

You may want to avoid the usual morning and afternoon rush hour when driving in London. You should also take the time to make sure you understand the regulations before driving. Resource centers such as Toptests can help you get used to things like road signs, congestion charges and parking in London.

Take a Walk or a Bike Ride

Last, but certainly not least, we have the more adventurous options of getting around London: walking and cycling. Walking in London – especially during the warmer times of the year – is really enjoyable. You have parks and gorgeous coffee shops just waiting to be explored. Cycling, on the other hand, is a bit more challenging.

While there are special lanes for cyclists across the city, you still need to be extra careful. Watch out for buses and motorcycles since they often cut into your lane without warning. Other than that, cycling helps you reach more places faster, which means you can enjoy more of the city and still have the time to prepare for a lovely dinner at the end of the day.
