So you want to be a world traveler? One of those peop

le who begins stories with “When I was traveling abroad…” or “One night in Paris…”. It’s easy to say you are interested in ‘travel’ when you are hiding behind a computer, but have you ever actually been anywhere? How exactly does one stop pinning and dreaming, and actually start moving? Well obviously, you came to the right place. Step one is simple really: Get a Passport.

It takes time to get a passport, so you might as well get started if you plan on traveling. If you are a first time applicant, it will cost approximately $135 to obtain a U.S. Passport. You wouldn’t want to miss an opportunity to travel because you waited to apply, the average processing time takes 4-6 weeks. The U.S. Passport is good for 10 years before it expires, and once you have it, chances are it won’t go to waste. Take the time to get it now!

Once you have a passport, the possibilities for travel are literally

endless. But if you want to travel, you need to make it a realistic option. It’s easy to say “I want to travel”, but having the guts, or even just the resources to follow through are a completely different story. MissTravel can you get part of the way, but you need to be able to take that leap when the time comes. De-clutter your life in order to make it easier to achieve travel. Make travel a priority, and spend less time and money on the things that are less important to you.

You shouldn’t be relying 100% on anyone for your travel and expenses, always have a travel fund saved up for emergencies and special circumstances. A generous member can help pay for the major travel expenses, but you should always plan on bringing a little cash along even if you just use it on your own souvenirs. It doesn’t hurt to be prepared for any scenario you may encounter.

Before you leave for a trip abroad, make sure you do your homework. Know everything about your destination before you show up. What is the current exchange rate? What language do they speak? Don’t expect too much right away, and always expect the unexpected. Travel rarely goes according to plan and you need to be able to adapt quickly if you are thrown off course, or if the weather doesn’t cooperate.

Being a worldly traveler isn’t just about being able to stay in five star hotels and eating in the finest restaurants around the world. If you want to be a worldly traveler, you must be comfortable getting out of your comfort zone, immersing yourself in a new culture, trying new foods and experiencing new things. It’s the absence of routine and familiarity that attracts most people to the notion of travel, and it’s what make a worldly traveler more interesting than someone who chooses to stay put.

If you are here, you must be looking for someone to travel along with. Even if you’re desperate to see the world, don’t settle for the first person that comes along just to get out there. There is probably nothing worse than a bad first date, than a bad first date that lasts for a whole weekend and takes place half way around the world. Look for someone who has similar tastes and preferences, or you may be stuck jumping out of planes or hiking the Outback when you prefer long walks on the beach. If you want to drink and eat in the culture, look for someone who wants to wine and dine their way through Europe, not an adrenaline seeker. Make a bucket list of things you want to see, or do, or learn, and find someone who wants those same things.

So if you came here to travel the world for free, don’t expect to do so with out any effort. A dream doesn’t come true simply because you dreamt it. You have to rise to the occasion, and be prepared to go where the tide takes you. So start small, start simple. Get your passport, make travel a priority, do your homework and save for travel. Expect to be thrust out of your comfort zone and find someone who will not only finance your travel, but also enhance your experiences. Anyone can dream of traveling the world, but very few actually get out there and do it. The difference between a worldly traveler and a dreamer, is passion. And the guts to follow through.

Bon Voyage!

All personalities and perspectives are welcome on the blog, while personal attacks and name calling are not. It’s inevitable that there will be disagreements but let’s handle it as mature adults with class to keep the dialog constructive and respectful. Please refer to the “Blog Etiquette” http://blog.misstravel.com/blog-etiquette/ for more details. Now comment away and let’s enjoy the blog!!

All the complaining I hear about equal rights and now this? I could travel free if I was a hot chick? I don’t agree with this at all!

Have just returned from a 4 month holiday around the world including 3.5 spectacular weeks in Mongolia. Meeting fellow travellers is unlike any other relationship you’ll ever have. It’s savvy and sexy, intense without being desperate and, often, achingly beautiful. Long may it remain so.

To Dave : The article just stated that the woman should expect to pay for some of the trip, the article in no way implied that if you are hot, you get a free trip, in fact, the site implies that. And if you do not enjoy this concept, why are you on the site? The site was designed for Generous men to accomodate attractive women during their travels together. If you want a dating site more focused on love, go to a different one. But, I happen to think this site is VERY focused on love. It takes a lot for a man you barely know to pay for everything for you to have a great experience…that in itself is a form of love’s expression. I come across guys like you on this website a lot. It seems to me some of you are confused regarding the intentions of Misstravel : To hook up attractive woman with men who live well. Also, I’d like to state that this article rubs me the wrong way….. I do not think I should be expected to pay for anything. That being said, I also think it is all up to the individual and what you and your traveler agree to. Before you travel with anyone from this site, ALWAYS discuss the factors of the trip…What will he be paying? What will you be paying, if anything? This is imperative. You should also make sure your intentions are both in the same place. Is he looking for a sugar baby, or simply a friend? Be aware of these things before you leave so that there are no awkward misunderstandings.
