A little bit about myself:

I moved to the Middle East a while ago to teach at a private school about 1.5 hours outside Dubai. I'm head of my department now and am looking forward to building my career in the coming years. Before that I have lived/taught in Michigan, Singapore, and Chicago. I've also spent nearly a year backpacking Southeast Asia, India, and Australia, with other trips to Europe and the Caribbean. I'm on my way to seeing the world.

However, work is also a means to an end: I absolutely love to travel and will do so whenever I get a break. I just spent 3 weeks in Oman, four wheel driving, camping, and just generally exploring. This past year I've been getting my feet wet as a professional photographer, with exhibitions/sales of my pictures from around the world, so I'm a huge fan of exotic places that give me good material.

Other than having my shit together and being an independent woman who would make an excellent travel partner (not accessory, partner), I think my biggest assets are that I take good care of my body, I have a sense of humor that's just as juvenile as it is academic, I'm open-minded and am always trying to learn, I love adventure, I can hold a good conversation, I'm equally comfortable in formal dress at the Ritz or a t-shirt and jeans in a hostel, and I'm laid-back and easy to get along with.

Fun tidbits:
-I have 4 smallish tattoos and 2 body piercings. All 4 are very meaningful to me.
-I have some great cocktail/summer dresses, but really nowhere to wear them. A fun trip that includes a nice dinner or a hot nightclub might fix that. :)
-I have an independent streak: I can carry my own bag; I like to plan things; I don't always ride bitch on the motorcycle; I'm not good at following someone while dancing; I argue back when I'm being ripped off; etc. But then I can have a girly streak and want a guy to flatter me and watch a romantic comedy with me and stuff like that. Yeah, I'm complex.
-I may not look muscular, but I'm pretty strong. I workout everyday, have been doing yoga for years, and even lift. I'm about to run my 3rd marathon on my 3rd continent.
-I always end up in the weirdest situations: crazy locals trying to become friends on Facebook, getting free rides from people worried about my safety, riding wild animals, wearing palm leaves in the jungle to protect my camera from the rain, dancing with little kids at a traditional wedding...you know, the usual. :P
-I have a stomach of steel and can eat nearly anything. Made it a month through India and only got sick on the last day when I ate one last orange.
-I have friends on nearly every continent.
-I'm a chameleon: whatever look / attitude / skill the situation calls for, I can usually adapt to.

I guess for one final summary I would say I'm kind of in an 'in-between' stage in my life. On the one hand my life is a bit in flux: I'm trying to move into photojournalism as a career, I'm not ready for a family or owning a home, I'm not sure where I'll be in 5 years, etc. But I am definitely beyond the 20-something immaturity: I keep my place clean, I work hard and keep to a budget, and I have excellent credit and strong aspirations.

If you're a guy who isn't looking for arm candy, but rather is intrigued by/appreciates what I've been saying then I'd be thrilled to meet you and plan a trip!

Why I want to travel:

So I'm brand new to the site and don't know what most other members have in mind, but I'm definitely looking for someone fun to travel with and share authentic experiences with. I love the idea of getting to know someone out of their element--people are so much more genuine that way. I'm not really expecting to find a husband on a long-weekend trip to San Diego, but it's exciting to pursue a friendship or romance (yes, romance) that could lead anywhere in the world!

So, what would I look for in a travel partner? Adventurous (non-negotiable). Patient. Flexible. Excited to do things (I can only sit by the beach for a couple of days) and stays in shape/takes care of themselves. Easy to talk to (and honest about their thoughts, not just keep things bottled up inside). Funny (another must). Laid-back. Enjoys quiet nights in as much as wild nights out. Affectionate. And I guess lastly, humble (I don't have much patience for show-offs).

I am willing to travel very nearly anywhere. I'm not kidding. I recently spent 2 years living in Asia, and almost half of that time I was backpacking solo around Asia, Australia, and India. I've been to Europe a couple of times and dream of driving a motorcycle through China, Russia, and the Middle East. «All-inclusive» are the two worst words in the English language; let's see something new and exotic! Hmmm, but having said that, I have to admit I am not above a spontaneous trip to NYC for a weekend in a boutique hotel with a nice dinner and a massage!

Oh, and when I said earlier I was backpacking, I meant I was basically bumming around, spending as little money as possible! :) It was dirty and sweaty and occasionally awkward, but it was a blast!!! I don't need grand luxury at all, but like I said, I do have all these dresses and a fondness for fine wine… Let's just say I appreciate both worlds.

What I like to do when I travel: take pictures! (up to a hundred a day), try new food, get into neighborhoods where no one speaks English, ride motorcycles, scuba dive, hike, visit museums and historical areas, walk or take public transport, go to beach parties, meet everyone I can, go out dancing, camp, lounge on the beach (for a day or two), and more!

Okay, that's enough from me. I hope I've caught your interest if you're a genuinely nice and interesting guy because I think that's the kind of girl I am. If you're up for a trip let me know and let's see how we like each other!
