A little bit about myself:
My profile picture is not a joke. I've been to Paris once, to research a screenplay, and instead ended up modeling and performing with one of my favorite musicians. These things always happen when I travel. You have been warned. :)
I am a student of Psychology, but in the past I have studied Literature, French, and Fashion Design. I love learning of all sorts, from reading mental_floss to Psychology Today to biographies and textbooks, or just researching things that I've always been curious about. Music is another passion, and I have been known to travel just for a concert, the most recent being a quick run up to San Francisco just to see Pulp.
I also love to travel, maybe more than anything. While other people budget for a car or a house, I see a price tag on something and think, «I could fly to Thailand for that price!»
Je parle français. Ich spreche Deutsch. I can swear in six languages (including American Sign Language), though I'm not sure how charming that really is.
Strange introduction aside, I love trying new things. I don't consider myself sporty, but I'm fit and adventurous. Impulsive is a word commonly used around me. Skydiving? Sure, if you jump first. :) Taking a dip in the Devil's Pool at Victoria Falls? Don't forget the camera! Doing on the ground research to see if the mangoes in Thailand really are the best in the world, as I've been told? I'm hungry now. Speaking of hungry, I've heard of a great tomato fight in the south of Spain…
My school studies are distance, so my schedule is pretty flexible. I need freedom for whatever may come my way.
Why I want to travel:
I like travel buddies who aren't afraid to try new things. If you're the sort that goes to the Louvre and breathes a sigh of relief when you see Starbucks and McDonald's, I'm afraid I'm not for you. I threw a 10 minute fit over seeing a Subway sandwich shop next to the Moulin Rouge. We travel to see new places, meet new people, and try new things. I'm a vegetarian, but if something intrigues me enough I'll give it a go, because in the end, you only really regret the things you never did.
I'm also a hedonist, so sleeping in a bit is nice. I have a lot of energy when I'm excited but I don't like drill sergeants and discipline. If I did, I would have joined the Army! I like good conversation, good food, good views, nothing too scheduled, and the freedom to deviate from the standards.
So far I have been to Paris, Berlin, London (very briefly — I'd like a proper go), Glasgow, and a brief stop in Dublin. Mexico and Canada have been done, as well as the Pacific Northwest of the US, Alaska, and Florida. I'm really embarrassed to say that I've never been to New York, because I don't want to go alone.
