A little bit about myself:
Hello there, I'm a sometimes cheeky, sometimes contrary, sometimes charming Scottish lady whose vocation is education (I'm a teacher). Whilst I have a few ideas in the pipeline which I hope will financially fuel my travel passions in the future, at present I tend to entertain myself around the London area doing things like cycling (I have a road bike that I like to get out on when it isn't raining) which allows me to keep thin, thus allowing me to drink wine, another of my joys in life. I also enjoy writing, reading, playing the piano, acting, watching lots of films and quality television series box sets.
Whilst I do enjoy taking quin-annual trips to Scotland to see my family I would really love to be able to explore the world a little more. I'm keen to go to places like Morocco, Lebanon and Madagascar. Having made this grand statement it must be said that I think you can have fun anywhere new as it is often the little unexpected things that happen which can make a trip memorable: something you witnessed fleetingly, something someone said to you (or something your travel partner said to offend someone and the mile you have to run afterwards to get away), the people you meet and company you were with or just a really tasty slice of cake/glass of wine that you consumed. So, I enjoy the I enjoy the idiosyncratic elements that a trip can throw up when you least expect them. Apart from perhaps food poisoning, shark attacks and being mugged whilst sleeping on the beach.
I have travelled a little, having been to Africa (I camped in a little green tent for six weeks back in 1996); the Middle East (lived on a few kibbutz), Thailand,and I lived in Melbourne, Australia for six years before returning to the U.K four years ago.
Why I want to travel:
Just to have a fun time I suppose. Being Scottish I enjoy a bit of banter so conversation is important.
I'm not particularly mercenary and I have no idea what this site holds but it would be rude not to pay it some attention and give it a chance. Same goes for the people on it. :)
