Firstly let me get some things out of the way: I was married, now newly divorced with two children but living alone. I've had a very successful life: professionally, financially, friendships and marriage/family-wise (I still consider myself as having a successful marriage even though it has broken up because it lasted over 20 years, produced two great children and my ex and I are still on good terms).
Things I love: reading, traveling, humor, language, new cultures; work, doing and learning new things, making money, exercise: and food. What can I say about food. Have to love it. I love cooking and find it very creative but hate recipes-which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. For example, one evening in preparation for a company party, I decided to make my beans with ham hocks. I was alone, watching the presidential debates, drinking Grey Goose on the rocks (probably one to many) and cooking my beans. I really got into the beans that night: browned the ham hocks up real nicely, then deglazed the pan with a great bottle of Malbec, reduced the liquid to sweeten the broth, added some red peppers, onions, garlic and more, added in the bean and simmered for hours. They came out great and were the hit of the party. Problem is I have never been able to recreate them. I call them my Drunken Beans and I guess I will have to get drunk again if I want them.
